What is SAS Business Analytics Specialist Certificate?
The SAS Business Analytics Specialization is an elective program that provides students with practical skills in business analytics, data management, statistical modeling, programming and machine learning. Students work with the SAS Viya platform and learn how data can be explored, analyzed and transformed into meaningful insights for data-driven decision-making.
The program combines the SAS Analytics School with specialized e-learning and practical exercises. Students can choose between two pathways depending on their interests: Visual Analytics and Modeling or Programming and Machine Learning.
The SAS specialization structure
The SAS Business Analytics Specialization consists of more than 150 hours of SAS learning material and combines live instruction, interactive e-learning, practical exercises and internationally recognized SAS certifications.
SAS Analytics School
Students first attend the three-day, online SAS Analytics School. The sessions cover topics such as current analytics trends, the analytics lifecycle, the SAS Viya environment, turning data into value, practical use cases and certification preparation.
After completing the SAS Analytics School, students must select one of two pathways according to their interests:
Visual Analytics and Modeling
- Visual Business Analytics: Learn to explore and analyze data using SAS Visual Analytics and communicate insights through interactive reports and visualizations. Key topics include data preparation, calculated items, KPIs, time-based and geographic analysis, forecasting, decision trees, network and path analysis, text analysis and advanced report design.
- Modeling Using SAS Visual Statistics: Develop practical skills in statistical modeling, including descriptive and predictive models for continuous and categorical targets. Topics include clustering, model comparison, scoring, model assessment, goodness-of-fit and model validation.

Programming and Machine Learning
- Base Programming Specialist: Learn to access, explore, prepare and analyze data using SAS programming. Key topics include DATA step processing, functions, custom formats, summarizing data, combining and restructuring tables, repetitive programming techniques and SQL.
- Machine Learning Using SAS Viya: Learn to build and evaluate machine learning models using SAS Viya. Topics include data preprocessing, decision trees and ensemble methods, neural networks, support vector machines, model assessment and model deployment.

How to get the SAS Specialization?
To complete the SAS Business Analytics Specialization, students must:
- Participate in the SAS Analytics School.
- Complete the required e-learning modules for the selected pathway.
- Complete the practical exercises using SAS Viya for Learners.
