Strategy and Design of Interfirm Networks
This research area refers to strategy, allocation of decision rights, residual income rights, and ownership rights in interfirm networks, such as franchise networks, strategic alliances, joint ventures and new network forms in digital economy (e.g. platforms). The focus is to develop and apply different theoretical perspectives on strategy and design of interorganizational networks; in particular, which insights can be provided from the different fields, such as organizational and institutional economics (transaction cost theory, principal-agent theory, property rights theory), organization theory (information processing theory), strategic management perspectives (resource-based theory, organizational capability theory, knowledge-based theory, real option theory), and stakeholder theory.
