KU Production Analysis

The course covers the most important topics that a decision maker in manufacturing is usually confronted with. The various production planning tasks are discussed successively in a top-down approach, following the typical hierarchy established by Production Planning and Control (PPC) systems. They include production planning on an aggregate level (e.g., product families), Master Production Scheduling (MPS), Material Requirements Planning in contrast to the Just-in-Time philosophy, and finally the detailed scheduling of production operations on work-centers or machines on the shop floor.
