KU Simulation II

What is simulation?

A (dynamic) simulation model is a model of a real world system that describes its behavior over time for the purpose of understanding, analyzing and optimizing that system. Simulations are used in a wide range of different applications like engineering, military, finance, and many more. In production and logistics simulations can be used to obtain good production or warehouse configurations as well as for disaster relief or healthcare purposes. The objective of a simulation is often to identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies.

Course description

The course intends to give an “hands-on” experience to the simulation tool AnyLogic based on those theoretical fundaments obtained in the first part of the course.

Overview

Based on a small simulation project, the students will have the opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge and practical skills gained from the course Simulation I. The projects will be handled by groups of at most two people. The final implementation in the AnyLogic simulation environment is to be presented in class and summarized in a short seminar paper.
